Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the most common questions we get about our bespoke garden buildings, construction process, and installation services.
Your Questions, Answered
Do your garden buildings require planning permission?
In most cases, our buildings fall under permitted development and do not require planning permission. However, we’ll always review your property and design to ensure full compliance before work begins.
Are your garden rooms fully insulated?
Yes — every South Coast garden building is fully insulated in the walls, roof, and floor. They’re designed for all-year-round use, maintaining a comfortable temperature whatever the weather.
Do you build on site or use prefabricated panels?
All of our buildings are built entirely on site by our skilled team — never from pre-fabricated kits. This ensures a perfect fit, solid structure, and long-lasting quality.
Can you include plumbing, electrics, and heating?
Absolutely. We handle the full installation, including power, lighting, and heating options such as underfloor heating, air conditioning, or radiators, depending on your preference.
How long does the build process take?
Typical builds take between two and four weeks on site, depending on size, specification, and weather conditions. Larger or more complex structures may take slightly longer, but we always give a clear timeline upfront.
Do you handle groundwork and base preparation?
Yes, we take care of the full installation process, including groundworks, foundations, and drainage if required. You won’t need to arrange anything separately — we handle it all in-house.
What materials do you use for the structure?
We offer both timber and steel-framed construction. Timber is ideal for traditional builds, while steel provides exceptional strength for larger designs or those requiring wide spans and overhangs.
Do you offer a guarantee?
Yes — all South Coast garden buildings come with a structural guarantee and manufacturer warranties on materials, fixtures, and finishes for your peace of mind.
